Kitchen Helper

Punjab Sweets is seeking two hardworking, reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Helpers to join our team in Truganina, Victoria.

We specialise in authentic vegetarian Punjabi cuisine, traditional desi ghee sweets and freshly prepared snacks. We are looking for motivated individuals who can support our kitchen team in maintaining high standards of food preparation, cleanliness, hygiene and efficiency.

The successful candidates will assist chefs and kitchen staff with daily food preparation, ingredient handling, cleaning and general kitchen operations to ensure quality food and smooth service.

• Assist chefs and kitchen staff with preparing ingredients for vegetarian Punjabi dishes, snacks and sweets.
• Wash, peel, chop and portion vegetables and other ingredients according to kitchen requirements.
• Measure, organise and prepare ingredients for daily food preparation and cooking.
• Support kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks under supervision.
• Assist with assembling food orders and preparing takeaway packaging as required.
• Wash and sanitise dishes, utensils, cooking equipment and kitchen tools.
• Maintain clean and organised food preparation areas, workbenches, storage areas and kitchen floors.
• Store food ingredients correctly, following food safety, temperature control and stock rotation procedures.
• Assist with receiving, checking and organising food supplies and deliveries.
• Monitor basic ingredient and packaging supplies and inform supervisors when replenishment is required.
• Follow food handling, hygiene, sanitation and workplace health and safety procedures.
• Work closely with chefs and other kitchen staff to support efficient service during busy periods.

• Basic understanding of food preparation and kitchen hygiene practices.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Good communication, time management and organisational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant kitchen.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety and detail.
• Willingness to perform general cleaning and kitchen support duties.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and safely perform routine kitchen tasks.
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking attitude.
• Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends.
• Previous kitchen or hospitality experience is preferred but not essential.
• Willingness to learn and follow established kitchen procedures.
